The First Jump

If you haven’t yet, please first read Did I Lose or Win? to understand the title.
My wife Debby just accepted a position at the NAD as an attorney. So we’re moving east. She said to me it’s such a big move. I replied that it wasn’t as much of a big move as when we moved to Los Angeles from DC. She is originally from Boston. Moving to California meant being farther away from her family.
I love California and will always. It’s such a beautiful state. The sky is almost always blue, and is warm all year around. Over the years, we’ve made new friends and grew closer. It was here that I worked on all the sites. Granted, it won’t be easy leaving California.
But exciting times await us in DC metro. Debby will be working at the NAD. We have many friends there. Several of them have children. The DC metro is truly the mecca of the deaf community. I look forward to the opportunities that await us! Springboard!

congrats on your move from west to east! Looks like you can no longer take the pixs of cool cars in the east compare to the west!!
good luck

Congrats are in order! Can’t wait for you both to be in the same town! NAD is lucky to have Debby on board! This might get me just excited enough to buy a Mac!
tayler | October 23rd, 2009 @ 3:20 pm
JFLMad, LOL! You can’t beat the cars here. I did see a Ferrari in DC last weekend — but I was surprised. Here, I see it everyday. LOL.
Colin, thanks! There’s still time to meet at Woodbridge Park.
Jared, look forward to being able to help you shop for a Mac at an Apple Store.

Best of luck with your move out east! Congratulations to Debby.
Linda Slovick | October 23rd, 2009 @ 3:47 pm
Oh, so you are going HOME, right?
For me it was east to west (California native), but HOME is where your heart lives!
Congratulations to you both!

Linda, well, we moved here from DC. Debby’s from Boston and I grew up in Minnesota. I’ll e-mail you soon (recovering from a flu).

Jamie | October 23rd, 2009 @ 4:43 pm
Welcome back to DC! Sounds like there is too much work for KP Strauss to handle by herself.
tayler | October 23rd, 2009 @ 4:47 pm
J.J. we’ll meet up and it won’t be the last time..
Jamie, who’s KP Strauss?

Congratulations, Tayler & Debbie!!
Please rub off the good happenings over to us in Detroit! LOL…
We’re in uncertain times now…. sucking the finger and putting up in the air, wondering which direction to go…
This is really awesome news!!
Thanks for sharing – certainly puts a smile on my face!

Your’e busted!
You were supposed to go to Deafread Extra. I did not have a power as a “CEO” to keep the Deafread running but you are!
Congrats to your wife, Debby. So, I guess your’e the stay-at-home Dad. That’s the 21st century. That’s great.
Be good or be good at it…..

CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS, Tayler and Debby! I’m so excited for both of you!
tayler | October 23rd, 2009 @ 6:08 pm
WG, accepting a position at the NAD isn’t deaf-related?
Tousi | October 23rd, 2009 @ 6:47 pm
Congratulations to both Tayler, and Debbie. More trails to blaze!!!!

Jamie-
I’m not sure if Karen Peltz-Strauss (KP Strauss) is still working at NAD. I just checked NAD’s website, and there are only two people at the NAD Law Center. (Crawford and Charmatz)
Tayler, if you don’t mind my enquiring, but is your wife, Debby, deaf/hh? At any rate, congratulations to your wife! I interned there in 1996 and it is a great place to work.
Fred E. Gravatt | October 23rd, 2009 @ 8:59 pm

A Big Jumper | October 24th, 2009 @ 8:52 am
Congratulations! I don’t know you personally and I sense you’re one cool down to earth dude basing on manner of acting or controlling yourself professionally and courtesy on DeafRead and vblogs sites. You did a wonderful job for the global deaf community. I thank you.
Despite anything to the contrary, it shouldn’t be your “First Jump.” In a literal sense, you may have many “jumps” in your life; so move forward by leaps and bounds and wishing you the best in each jump of the way.
Matt Ellis | October 24th, 2009 @ 10:12 am
CA’s loss is DC’s gain. I’ll tag along when JJ meets you for drinks.
Congrats to you two! Deb’ll kick ass!
Adam Stone | October 25th, 2009 @ 6:20 pm
I am really going to miss having you up there in LA, even though we met up only like, four times or something! Congratulations on the move and the job!! It’s great news for your family.
And always remember, you can take Anya out of California, but you can’t take California out of Anya! She’ll be forever a California-born girl… grins!
When do you actually move?
Teri | October 25th, 2009 @ 6:44 pm
Congratulations! You would love socializing with Metro DC folks. I miss them dearly, not the weather!
